Majors, Degrees and Programs

Northwest offers 126 undergraduate majors, 73 minors, 18 pre-professional programs, 40 graduate programs, five graduate certificate programs, three certificate programs, three specialist programs.

Each year, about 20% of our incoming freshmen and 10% of transfer students begin their education at Northwest as a deciding student. Students who are deciding their major are in the process of exploration. They are evaluating the interests, abilities, needs and values they possess and how they fit with a major or career.

As a deciding student you will be asked to declare a Meta-Major. A Meta-Major is a grouping of courses for your first year to guide you toward a major in an area while still progressing toward graduation.

The staff at the Student Success Center and the Office of Career Services want to help any deciding student in the process of choosing a major. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue the process of deciding.
